Magoffin Co Woman Arrested after Attempting to Stab Police Officer

A Magoffin Co woman was arrested last week after she allegedly tried to stab a Police Officer. According to the Magoffin Co Sheriff’s Office, a Deputy responded Friday to a complaint that a woman, identified as 49 year-old Elizabeth Reed of Salyersville, was allegedly cooking meth inside a residence. When the Deputy arrived at the home, he heard a woman screaming, then seen smoke coming from the kitchen. When the Deputy went inside the home, he reportedly seen blackish, charred material throughout the home, as well as two cookers on the stove that was boiling over. The Deputy then reported that Reed appeared in front of him with a butcher knife and allegedly started coming toward him. The Deputy pulled his gun and ordered her to drop the knife, but she would grab a piece of glass and allegedly started swinging at him again. The Deputy would again order Reed to drop the glass and placed her under arrest. Reed was transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center as was charged with two counts of wanton endangerment, as well as other charges.
