Contact with murder suspect leads to officer-involved shooting

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Wednesday morning encounter between law enforcement and a suspect wanted for a Lexington murder led to an officer-involved shooting. According to the Lexington Police Department, local officers were assisting United States Marshals at the 1600 block of Thirlstane Court around 10:11 a.m. on July 28. Authorities were trying to make contact with the suspect, a 31-year-old male.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (KT) – A Lexington police officer assisting the United States Marshals Service on Wednesday morning has been involved in an on-duty shooting. Lexington Police Sgt. Donnell Gordon says shortly after 10 a.m., Lexington Police were assisting the US Marshals in the 1600 block of Thirlstane Court, where they were attempting to make contact with a suspect who was wanted for a murder in Lexington. During the encounter, shots were fired.

Suspect shot by law enforcement serving a warrant in a Lexington homicide, chief says

A homicide suspect was shot Wednesday when a Lexington police officer helped the U.S. Marshals Service serve a murder warrant, Lexington police said. Shots were fired around 10:11 a.m. in the 1600 bock of Thirlstane Court when law enforcement attempted to serve the warrant on a 31-year-old man, Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said. Thirlstane is in a residential area between Bryan Station and Winchester roads.
