Richmond is a city in western Contra Costa County, California, United States. The city was incorporated on August 7, 1905 and has a city council. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area's East Bay region, Richmond borders San Pablo, Albany, El Cerrito and Pinole in addition to the unincorporated communities of North Richmond, Hasford Heights, Kensington, El Sobrante, Bayview-Montalvin Manor, Tara Hills, and East Richmond Heights, and for a short distance San Francisco on Red Rock Island in the San Francisco Bay. Richmond is one of two cities, the other being San Rafael, California, that sits on the shores of both San Francisco Bay and San Pablo Bay.

National Police Week

The Richmond Police Department conducted a memorial service to commemorate National Police Week, and honor officers who gave their lives in service of the community. The names of the Richmond officers who died in the line of duty were read aloud, and an address by Captain Tim Simmons was given to department members.

City of Richmond, Pogo Park Awarded $10M in Clean California Local Grant Program Funds

The City of Richmond received two grants totaling $10 million from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Clean California Local Grant Program. Richmond Plunge Masters Program at the Plunge!

Adult swimmers who want to work out with a group, improve their stamina or refine their strokes with the aid of a swim coach, can join the Richmond Plunge Masters which has workouts multiple times per week at the Richmond Plunge. This program is run through the partner organization, Richmond Swims. The Richmond Swims website has contact information. Swimmers are also welcome to come for drop-in swims, regardless of ability, any time the Plunge or Richmond Swim Center are open (see schedule for info). Please note that proof of vaccine or negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours is required to enter.
