Humanitarian Center Receives Donation

The Magic Valley Area Humanitarian Center wishes to thank the Bayer Funds “America’s Farmers GROW Communities” program for their financial donation of $2500 to the Center. The Center was nominated for the award by local farmers Paul and Kathy Duncan! The money was used to purchase supplies for the Humanitarian Center to help those in need in the Magic Valley.

Blaine County uninsured care expanding with Family Health Services clinic

BELLEVUE, Idaho — The St. Luke's Wood River Foundation is working to expand services of care for those who are uninsured or underinsured. Last year, more than 700 Blaine County patients had to travel to either Jerome or Fairfield to get health care. To address this issue, Family Health Services, had a plan to open a medical, dental, and behavioral health clinic, with pharmacy services in Bellevue. That clinic will now be a reality, thanks to a $1 million grant from the St. Luke’s Wood River Foundation.

Heat wave to hit south valley on Monday

The cities of Hailey, Bellevue and Carey have been placed under a heat advisory from noon until 9 p.m. Monday. Residents in the Wood River foothills and the upper Snake River Plain can expect to see “dangerously hot conditions” with temperatures between 94 and 102 degrees today, according to the National Weather Service. Heat-related illnesses are more likely to affect those working or participating in outdoor activities.

Lincoln County Republicans seeking applications for county clerk position

SHOSHONE — The Lincoln County Republican Central Committee is accepting applications from qualified individuals interested in filling the county’s open clerk position. The previous county clerk, Brenda Farnworth, resigned July 20. According to Idaho statue, when an elected county official resigns in the middle of his or her term, the central committee of that official’s party is involved with filling that role.
