Redding chase ends with two in custody and officer injured

REDDING, Calif — A Redding Police Department car chase ended Friday afternoon with a two cars collision, an injured officer, and two suspects taken into custody. Lieutenant Danny Smetak told KRCR officers were dispatched to the area of Lavender and Salmon Berry around 11:17 a.m. on a call about two unconscious people in a car. When the officers arrived at the scene they found the two individuals were unconscious but armed with knives.

Wreckage found in California after plane reported missing

A wreckage found on a ridge in far Northern California on Friday is that of a small plane that requested an emergency landing but never arrived at its expected destination. Authorities in Siskiyou County said someone spotted the black Cessna 150 near Dunsmuir, about 45 miles north of Redding, and was able to confirm it was the missing plane after seeing its tail number.

The male was described as a white male adult, wearing a red shirt. Redding Police Officers and California Highway Patrol Officers quickly converged on the area and began searching for the male subject.
