Arrest in Ray County after shots-fired call

RAY COUNTY, MO – Ray County deputies responded to reports of shots fired in Orrick over the weekend. According to a post, the shooting was described as a drive-by, toward two people inside a vehicle. After the incident Sunday, one deputy patrolled the county looking for the subject, finding him hours later. After an attempt to evade the deputy the suspect was apprehended.

Thirty years in prison for Independence homicide

A man is going to prison for shooting and killing his wife in their Independence home last year. Larnell “Wink” McDonald, 64, was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Tuesday in a Jackson County Court. He was sentenced to 10 years for involuntary manslaughter and 20 years for armed criminal action, with those sentences to run consecutively.

Woman killed, man seriously hurt in Kansas City shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police took one man into custody Monday night following a shooting that left a woman dead and a man critically hurt. Police say the shooting happened around 10:45 p.m. in the 300 block of Van Brunt, which is just north of its intersection with Independence Avenue. Officers responding to a call for the sound of gunshots found both victims at the scene.
