Ramsey Man Charged With Possession Of Stolen Vehicle

A Ramsey man has been charged in Fayette County Court with possessing a stolen vehicle. 22 year old Dalton L. Allen has been charged with Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, which is a Class 1 Felony. Information on the charge says that Allen is alleged to have possessed a blue 2000 Chevrolet Supercab knowing it was stolen. Allen is also charged with Criminal Damage to Property under $500, which is a Class A Misdemeanor charge. Information states that Allen is alleged to have damaged the vehicle.

Crash Near Rochester Critically Injures Six-Year-Old Boy

A six-year-old boy has been critically injured in a crash that also sent his teenage sister to the hospital. Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell says the wreck happened Wednesday morning near Rochester. The 17-year-old driver was traveling on Hunter Road and stopped at the intersection with Cardinal Hill Road, then proceeded into the intersection. But she apparently did not see an approaching semi, which collided with her vehicle.

Gillespie Council approves FOP contract, considers tax-supported police pension plan

Gillespie city aldermen voted unanimously Monday night to authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to sign a new contract with the Fraternal Order of Police which authorizes substantial wage increases for city police officers. Additionally, the council set a special meeting for 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 16, to vote on whether or not to submit a tax referendum to voters that would support a place pension plan for local police. Both measures appear to be aimed at retaining officers.
