Business owner arrested for violating hot check law

A Pocahontas business owner has been arrested in Baxter County for violating the Arkansas Hot Check law after a check presented to a local supplier did not clear. According to the probable cause affidavit, 25-year-old Bilal Ahmed, the listed owner of Billy’s Market in Pocahontas, had a payment draft to Magness Oil in the amount of $10,789.06 which was returned for insufficient funds in May.

Three people dead after crash Saturday in Lawrence County

Walnut Ridge, Ark. – Three people were killed in an automobile accident Saturday evening in Lawrence County. It happened at 7:15 PM on U.S. 67 near Lawrence County Road 410, according to the Arkansas State Police Fatal Crash Summary. A 2002 Hyundai was traveling northbound on U.S. 67 at the same time a 2013 Nissan was traveling southbound on the same highway.

Kelsey Miller, a sophomore biology major from Hardy, Arkansas, spent her summer interning at the Mammoth Spring National Fish Hatchery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas.
