Pedestrian killed in Rapides Parish crash Wednesday morning

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (LSP) - Kapatrine Sherman, 49, of Lecompte, was killed on Wednesday morning around 4 a.m., following a crash on Hwy 71, north of Lecompte. State Police said Sherman was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a northbound 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Anacoco woman killed in Rapides Parish crash

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (LSP) - An Anacoco woman was killed Monday in a single-vehicle crash on Hwy 112 near Hineston. Kiley L. Credeur, 20, was driving a 2007 Jeep Wrangler westbound on Louisiana Highway 112. For reasons still under investigation, Credeur exited the roadway, overcorrected, and overturned several times. She was ejected from the vehicle and came to rest in the eastbound travel lane. Credeur, while lying in the roadway, was then struck by an unknown eastbound vehicle.

RPSO seeking suspect after victim allegedly died following severe intoxication

ALEXANDRIA, La. (RPSO) - The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office and Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help in identifying the male suspect shown above. According to Crime Stoppers, the male, described as between 18-25 years of age, was seen pouring alcohol down the throat of a victim multiple times. He appears to be 5′8″ to 6 feet in height and about 145-160 pounds. The suspect is wanted for negligent homicide.

The following information has been provided by the Rapides Parish Library:. Rapides Parish Library has received a particular round of funding to help our library system further respond directly and immediately to the many needs of our communities due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) awarded $3,012,150 to the State Library of Louisiana for disbursement to public libraries in Louisiana. The Rapides Parish Library has received $47,064 of that funding.

Jonesville man charged with possessing 10 ounces of meth

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - A Jonesville man has been arrested for possessing 10.1 ounces of meth, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff Office. RPSO says its RADE unit (Rapides Area Drug Enforcement) was looking into meth being sold in the Ruby-Kolin area and identified Emery Joe Gaspard, 45, as a possible suspect. They say Gaspard had been involved in four narcotics arrests in the last year and has also failed to make court appearances. Contempt of court warrants were issued as a result.
