ASHEBORO N.C. – A man was arrested after being caught breaking and entering into a garage in Sophia and the homeowner got photos of the arrest. On May 21, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hillsdale Park Drive, in Sophia, after getting a call about a breaking and entering in progress. The caller told 911 a male subject, who arrived on a moped, was inside the garage.

ASHEBORO N.C. – Police say they arrested a driver found unconscious in a stolen vehicle sitting in traffic in Trinity last week. According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on May 21st, 2022, they responded to the intersection of Meadowbrook Dr. and NC-62 in Trinity, A 911 caller reported an unconscious driver in a vehicle blocking traffic.

ASHEBORO N.C. – A Randolph County man wanted for escaping house arrest was located in West Virginia this week where he was captured by a local bail bond company. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on April 28th, 2022, the Electronic House Arrest Officers received notification that Jerry Allen Harlow, Jr. had removed his monitoring device. Harlow was placed on electronic house arrest on September 10th, 2020, for multiple Felony Sex Offenses.

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — A Randolph County man will be spending the next 18 months in prison, according to the Department of Justice. James Freeman, 48, of Franklinville, admitted to supplying turtles to middlemen throughout the country so that he could smuggle them into Asia. Freeman both collected the turtles himself and hired poachers to illegally obtain turtles throughout North Carolina.

ASHEBORO, N.C. — Randolph County Sheriff’s office arrested a man after breaking into a home. The homeowner called officials reporting that someone was inside the garage. When the deputy arrived the suspect, 48-year-old Jimmy Hughes, was trying to escape but was apprehended. Hughes is facing the following charges:

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem Police are investigating a kidnapping that happened around 9:30 Saturday night. Officers were called out to the Sheetz convenience store located at 1551 Glenn Center Dr. The mother of the three-year-old, Harley Ray told officers she left her child in the car while she went inside the store to make a purchase. Ray told officers when she came out of the store her 2004 Toyota Highlander had been taken.
