RAYMOND – A Kenosha man faces a variety of charges after a three-vehicle collision injured two drivers and temporarily closed part of Interstate 94/41 here early Thursday. Racine County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the southbound lanes of the freeway just south of Highway K at about 2:35 a.m. where they found a Honda Accord in the middle lanes of traffic, a U-Haul van against the median wall and a Ford Focus off the highway. The drivers of the Focus and the van were injured and the Accord driver had fled the scene on foot.

RACINE — As part of the Milwaukee Brewers Buddies Program, the Racine Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) will distribute free Milwaukee Brewers guest passes to Racine County residents beginning Thursday, July 14, according to a June 30 news release. The guest passes are for the July 25 and 26 home games against the Minnesota Twins.

RACINE — On June 13, Racine County’s Summer Youth Employment initiative started back up for a second year, with much excitement from Racine leaders. Summer Youth Employment aims to recruit youth — particularly kids and teens of color — in the Racine area to give them better opportunities for the future by teaching them valuable career skills and paying them to work at one of the program’s 21 work sites.

A Sturtevant man could spend the next decade in prison after he was charged with his sixth OWI for allegedly causing a multi-car accident while driving under the influence. Jonathan Knutson, 41, was charged Wednesday in Racine County Circuit Court with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) as a 5th or 6th offense. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison and/or up to $25,000 in fines.

A 22-year-old Racine woman is facing almost a decade behind bars after she allegedly attacked another woman’s car with a bat. Samone Atterberry was charged Tuesday in Racine County Circuit Court with one felony count of substantial battery with use of a dangerous weapon, one misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property, and four misdemeanor counts of bail jumping. If convicted, she faces up to 7-1/2 years in prison and/or up to $60,000 in fines. Because the felony charge carries the dangerous weapon enhancer, Atterberry could have an additional four years tacked onto any sentence she receives.

MADISON – Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against state legislative leaders challenging the state’s 173-year-old criminal abortion ban. The filing, announced by Kaul and Gov. Tony Evers – both Democrats – names State Senate President Chris Kapenga, State Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos – all Republicans. Kaul was joined in the lawsuit by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board and Dr. Sheldon Wasserman, who is the state Medical Examining Board’s chairperson.

A Racine man is facing the rest of his life in prison for the alleged sexual assault of a girl when she was just seven years old. Christopher N. Lindeke, 39, was charged in Racine County Circuit Court with a single count of sexual assault of a child under the age of 12. If convicted, he faces up to 60 years in prison. The state takes child sexual abuse so seriously, that there is no monetary penalty assigned to this charge.
