Another Hot Day, Thunderstorms Thursday

It’s going to stay hot and dry again today, but there is a very slight chance of isolated showers. With humidity levels being so low, any rainfall that does occur may evaporate before hitting the ground. As there will also be gusty winds in excess of 30-35 mph, the fire risk will be elevated today and tomorrow.

A bumpy path to really hot temperatures

In the next several days, temperatures fluctuate bring a chance of a little rainfall. By next week, hot temperatures are the number one concern. Cold fronts passing through both Wednesday and Thursday will cause the winds to increase to 15 to 25 mph with gusts to around 35 mph possible. Combined with hot temperatures and low humidity, the risk of wildfires starting and spreading will become a concern.

Butte Undersheriff retiring after 40 years of good and bad times

BUTTE — Undersheriff George Skuletich with the Butte Law Enforcement Department has seen a lot in 40 years, but now he’s ready to hang up the badge. “It’s been a great experience; not every call’s been pleasant, but most of them have. Dealing with people, 99 percent of them are great, they just need help,” said Skuletich.

The Heater's Back On!

High pressure will bring hot and dry conditions today, but weak Pacific moisture could deliver a few isolated showers to the Beartooths/Absarokas tonight. Staying hot and dry on Wednesday ahead of a cold front that will bring daytime temperatures down into the 80s on Thursday and perhaps the 70s on Friday.
