UW notebook: freshman QB Sam Huard’s college career officially begins with debut against Arkansas State

The Sam Huard Era has not arrived at Husky Stadium. But fans were treated to a sneak peek on Saturday. Leading 42-3 in the fourth quarter of Washington’s 52-3 win over Arkansas State, Husky head coach Jimmy Lake ended starting quarterback Dylan Morris’ day early and called for Huard’s UW debut. Huard — the third in his family to line up under center for UW, following father Damon and uncle Brock — was greeted with a warm ovation from the fans scattered inside a water-logged Husky Stadium.

Case of Washington woman missing since 2011 to be featured on TV show

The 2011 disappearance of a woman from Parkland will be featured Wednesday on a segment of a TV show focused on unsolved crimes and missing children. Ruthie Fawn Kindness was last seen in Parkland, an unincorporated suburb of Tacoma, on Feb. 3, 2011, according to the Washington State Patrol.
