The third week of NFL training camp is officially underway, and we are less than a week from the first slate of preseason games this upcoming weekend. With a new week upon us, let’s take a look back at this past week of training camp and cover some of the news from the teams around the NFC North.

There are still quite a few points of uncertainty along the Vikings OL, but the left side appears to be set. The recent press conference from Kevin O’Connell indicated that the Christian Darrisaw/Ezra Cleveland pair will be the two starters. Take a look at one of the Darrisaw quotes:

Since taking over as GM, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has made several decisions that suggest he’s willing to stick to his guns. During the draft, Adofo-Mensah traded down in the opening round. Doing so was a decision that came with a fair bit of criticism (I’ve certainly articulated my belief that he got far too little for dropping down so far). Regardless, he believed that the best move was to accumulate more picks rather than stay at 12. He knew there would be criticism and yet he made the decision anyhow. On the next day, he pulled off a trade with the Packers to drop down once again.

Despite bringing in a new general manager and coaching staff this offseason, the 2022 Minnesota Vikings roster looks nearly identical to the 2021 roster in a lot of ways. They have the same QB, same skill positions, and even the same kicker and punter. That said, the battle for the Vikings starting center spot seems to be on if you take any stock in Kevin O’Connell’s recent comments.

This is extremely unusual for a team with a brand-new GM and head coach, but it goes to show how this new regime feels about Minnesota’s roster.
