A man in Pulaski County died in a house fire. Woodstock Fire Department officials say it happened overnight Tuesday at a home on Liberty Road, off Highway 70. Fire departments were notified just before 1 a.m. about the fire, but when firefighters arrived they say the fire was already fully involved and there was little they could do. A woman got out by jumping out a window, but the man inside could not get out. He was found in the bedroom area and pronounced dead by the Pulaski County coroner’s office. His name was not been released. The coroner said he’s having to use medical records to identify the man. The woman was airlifted to a burn unit in Louisville where at last report she was being treated for burns and smoke inhalation. Multiple fire departments responded as the home is located in a rural area close to the Pulaski-Lincoln-Rockcastle county lines. The cause is still under investigation but fire officials say it’s believed to have started in the kitchen area because that is where the fire did the most damage and burned the hottest. Fire officials say fires like this are very difficult to bring under control due to the nature of the materials involved.
