3-Year-Old Boy Pulled From Plymouth Pond Dies

PLYMOUTH (CBS) – A three-year-old boy who was pulled from a Plymouth pond by an off-duty firefighter and off-duty police officer Thursday evening has died. It happened at about 7:15 p.m. during Family Night at Camp Clark on Hedges Pond. The boy had a life vest on but was found face down in the water. The firefighter and officer, along with their wives, who are both nurses, began rescue breathing. The child was responsive but was having trouble breathing. He was rushed to a Plymouth hospital and then to Boston Children’s Hospital on a medical rescue helicopter. The Plymouth District Attorney’s Office said Friday the boy had passed away. “Our collective thoughts and prayers go out to the child’s family,” Plymouth Fire Chief Edward Bradley said. No other information has been released.

Two people airlifted after head-on crash, bicyclist struck in Osterville

OSTERVILLE – A bicyclist was seriously injured in a traffic crash in Osterville around 6:15 PM Thursday. According to initial reports, a head-on crash occurred and a bicyclist was also struck. A MedFlight helicopter was requested to land at the Cape Cod Airfield in Marstons Mills to fly the victim to a trauma center. A second person was transported from the scene to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth to meet a second MedFlight helicopter. Two other people were transported to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening. Barnstable Police are investigating the crash. Further details were not immediately available.

Former Provincetown School Committee member sentenced to 14 years in prison for child pornography

BOSTON – A former Provincetown School Committee member was sentenced to 14 years in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to child pornography charges. Provincetown resident Kerry Adams, 61, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Patti B. Saris to 14 years in prison and 10 years of supervised release, according to a statement from Acting United States Attorney Nathaniel R. Mendell for the District of Massachusetts.

Jury acquits former Dennis man accused of rape charge

Michael Caldararo, who was charged on Sept. 28, 2018, with two counts of rape, one count of strangulation and one count of indecent assault and battery, was found not guilty of all charges by a jury in Barnstable Superior Court.

9 people displaced in East Dennis house fire; firefighter treated for heat exhaustion

EAST DENNIS — Nine people were temporarily displaced due to a house fire, and one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion, early Friday morning on Acorn Road. Dennis firefighters responded at 3:36 a.m. to the structure fire at 67 Acorn Road. The occupants had smelled smoke and were alerted by a smoke detector in the basement. Once they evacuated the single-story, ranch-style house, they called 911, according to a statement from Dennis Fire Department on Friday.
