There was a party in Piscataway on Sunday evening and seemingly everyone who cares about lacrosse in New Jersey was there. Friends and family of current players, alumni from throughout program history and numerous local youth programs filled with potential stars of tomorrow packed the parking lots at Yurcak Field hours ahead of one of the biggest games Rutgers men’s lacrosse has ever hosted.

Fort Dix training exercise source of loud booms people heard in South Jersey, officials say

GIBBSBORO, N.J. - Many people throughout southern New Jersey were awakened early Sunday morning by what was described as a loud boom or explosion, officials reported. The Gibbsboro Police Department, located in Camden County, posted on their Facebook page they were aware of the sounds. Social media lit up with concerned citizens asking what the sounds were.

Boys Tennis: No. 6 Marlboro wins back-to-back Monmouth County titles

For the second year in a row, Marlboro, ranked No. 6 in the latest Top 20, won the Monmouth County Tournament at Tindall Park in Middletown. Marlboro, swept all five positions plus third doubles for the title. The Mustangs tallied 30 points to lead the way. Ranney came in second with 22, while Christian Brothers had 16, Holmdel recorded 13, and Freehold Borough rounded out the top five with 12.

Syracuse tops Princeton to advance to NCAA Quarterfinals

PRINCETON, N.J. (SYRACUSE ATHLETICS) – Syracuse senior Meaghan Tyrrell scored five goals and junior goalkeeper Kimber Hower made 11 saves to lead the Orange to a 13-9 victory over Princeton in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament. Syracuse advances to Thursday’s quarterfinal where it will face either Northwestern or Michigan.

Rutgers lacrossse defeats Harvard in first round of NCAA Tournament

Rutgers has advanced out of the first-round of the NCAA men’s lacrosse tournament with a dominant 19-9 win over Harvard. The Scarlet Knights are now 14-3 following the win, which took place in front of a large home crowd. The 5,212 fans at Yurcack Field were the third most for a first-round NCAA Tournament game since 2003.

Man Shot and Killed Sitting in Parked SUV in Burlington County, NJ

Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina says a 40-year-old Willingboro man was shot and killed early Thursday morning while he was sitting in a parked vehicle. According to authorities, City of Burlington police officers on patrol heard gunfire around 3 AM and responded to the 500 block of Linden Avenue to investigate. Upon arrival, "they discovered Dominick Santiago in the driver’s seat of an SUV suffering from multiple gunshot wounds."
