NEWBURG — On July 18, a Preston County Sheriff’s Department deputy was sent to Newburg, where a woman said a man known to her had burned all of her clothing. The deputy observed a pile of ashes with some beauty items, belt pieces and jewelry located a few yards from the residence, with a gasoline can nearby.

A Preston County man allegedly burned all his ex-girlfriend’s belongings after she wouldn’t contact him

PRESTON COUNTY, W.Va (WDTV) - A Preston County man has been charged after allegedly burning his ex-girlfriend’s belongings. The woman told police the 41-year old, Kenneth Cale had burnt all her clothing. According to the criminal complaint, Cale had left her three voicemails. In the first voicemail Cale allegedly threatened to burn her belongings if she did not contact him in five minutes. In the second, he gave her three minutes and in the last he said he was lighting the match and burning everything. The value to all the items burned is more than $500.

NEWBURG — On July 20, a Preston County Sheriff’s Department deputy was patrolling the Chestnut Ridge Heights area and decided to follow a vehicle. When the deputy’s vehicle pulled behind the car, the car reportedly accelerated to a high speed. When the deputy pursued the vehicle, he noted marks on the gravel road where the car apparently was sliding. It was determined that the vehicle had pulled off onto a trail, and the deputy located the car at the end of it.

KINGWOOD — On July 15, a Preston County sheriff’s deputy patrolling Shower Bath Road observed a vehicle parked along the roadway. The deputy spoke with the driver and reported detecting the odor of marijuana. All occupants were asked to exit for the vehicle to be searched. The deputy found two bags of suspected methamphetamine by the front passenger seat belt buckle and another bag in the driver’s door.

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – David Ray Deberry, of Terra Alta, West Virginia, has admitted to drug and firearms charges, Acting U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Bernard announced. Deberry, 34, of Terra Alta, West Virginia, pleaded guilty today to one count of “Conspiracy to Distribute More Than Fifty Grams or More of Methamphetamine” and one count of “Unlawful Possession of Firearm as Felon.” Deberry admitted to working with others to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine from February 2017 to June 2018 in Harrison County and elsewhere. Deberry, a person prohibited from having a firearm because of a prior conviction, admitted to having a .45 caliber pistol in January 2018 in Marion County.
