Police: Teen who shot, killed mother’s boyfriend may have acted in self-defense

A shooting in which a young man killed his mother’s boyfriend is now being investigated as an act of self defense, Fairfax County police said Sunday. The shooting happened Saturday in the 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County, just south of Huntley Meadows Park. Police said the 19-year-old who shot his mother’s boyfriend was initially a suspect in what was being investigated as a homicide.

Hyattsville man dead and four others injured in two-car crash

MARLTON, Md. (WDVM) — A man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Prince George’s County, Maryland Saturday evening. Maryland State Police troopers from the Forestville Barrack responded to an area near Trumps Hill Rd. along U.S. Highway 301 northbound on Saturday. According to the preliminary investigation, a mid-size car crashed into a compact sport utility vehicle. The mid-size vehicle traveled off the road and into a wooded area.

Prince George County Man Arrested in Laurel After Striking Two Vehicles, Taking Police on Foot Pursuit

Anne Arundel County Police arrested a man from Hyattsville, Maryland who allegedly struck multiple vehicles before taking officers on a foot pursuit. On September 10, 2021, at approximately 11:55 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop of a blue Chevrolet Malibu on Laurel Fort Meade Road and Russett Green East in Laurel. The driver fled in the vehicle, driving through an intersection against a red signal and striking two other vehicles. The driver exited the vehicle and fled, but was apprehended on the Baltimore Washington Parkway after a foot pursuit. The driver was found to be in possession of a .40 caliber Beretta PX4 Storm handgun loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition and had an outstanding arrest warrant.

ROCKVILLE, Md. (WDVM) — A Metro bus crash injured four passengers after it lost control and swerved onto Congressional Lane Sunday afternoon. Around 12:20 p.m. the bus was traveling southbound on 355 (Rockville Pike), when it swerved onto Congressional Lane after losing control, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
