Green Team Plants Trees at Boston School Forest

PORTAGE COUNTY – The Green Team of Frame Memorial Presbyterian Church donated 35 hazelnut saplings to Boston School Forest and planted them on May 6. Windstorms had damaged a large area of the forest, so the team planted the hazelnut saplings to fill in where trees had been toppled. Hazelnuts grow to the size of a large lilac bush and produce edible nuts enjoyed by people, squirrels, deer, turkeys, woodpeckers, pheasants, and other animals. They also sequester carbon, which helps reduce climate change.
