POLK COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS APPROVE MAINTENANCE FOR MULTIPLE COUNTY DITCHES AFTER RECENT FLOODS

The Polk County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday inside the Polk County Government Center. The Board heard from Polk County Sheriff James Tadman about the Monthly Sheriff Reports and the purchase of multiple Chevy Silverados and Chevy Tahoes from Enterprise, County Engineer Richard Sanders on Requests for Maintenance in multiple County Ditches, as well as to approve Agreements for Eden Township and Polk County. The Board also heard from Property Records Deputy Director Sam Melbye and County Administrator Chuck Whiting.

More than 3 million birds now affected in Minnesota by bird flu

(Willmar MN-) The number of birds affected by this spring's outbreak of bird flu has crossed the 3 million mark. Two more Minnesota poultry operations tested positive over the past few days...a backyard poultry operation in Polk County and a commercial turkey operation in Dakota County. That brings the number of affected birds to 3 million 8 thousand 799. So far 79 sites have been hit in 25 different counties. In 2015, more than 9 million birds in Minnesota had to be destroyed due to H5N1 HPAI.

Strong Wind Pushes Semi Off the Road

A Brooks area man was injured when a strong gust of wind caused a single vehicle accident yesterday in Polk County. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Roger Dale Opdahl, 63, was injured when the southbound 2019 Volvo Semi he was driving left the roadway and rolled across northbound Highway 75 and into the west ditch.

POLK COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS APPROVE HERBICIDE TREATMENT IN UNION LAKE

The Polk County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday inside the Polk County Government Center. The Board heard from Assistant Environmental Services Administrator Jacob Snyder for an Aquatic Invasive Species Project Request and a Resolution Interim Permit for Knife River Materials. They also heard from Property Records Director Michelle Cote on a resolution to approve an application by Todd Ranz for Repurchase of Forfeited Lands in the Townsite of Fertile and an application to approve the Annual Liquor License for LakeView Resort, Inc., Snow Sled Bar and Grill/Deonne Maygra, and One N’ Only of Euclid, Inc. as well as County Administrator Chuck Whiting, who came forward with a Contractor Request from Diversified Contractors about the Red River Juvenile Detention Facility and to fill two positions at the Polk County Landfill Complex. They also heard from Social Services Director Karen Warmack and Finance Director Ron Denison.
