D.H. Conley student charged with making school shooting threat

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) -The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office says a current D.H. Conley student has been arrested and charged with threatening a school shooting. The sheriff’s office says just after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, school resource officers who are assigned to D. H. Conley High School were notified by students of a possible school shooting threat that was on social media.

No E911 outage in Pitt County despite previous reports

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - After previously reporting an outage of E911 services, Pitt County says the original message they received was sent by mistake. Earlier this evening, Pitt County Emergency Management/911 Communications Deputy Director Jimmy Hodges issued the following statement: “Regarding the earlier statement on the Lumen(CenturyLink) 911 outage, we have found the original alert from Lumen(CenturyLink) was sent in error. Pitt County Emergency Management has placed test calls and all tests have confirmed that Lumen(CenturyLink) lines are working when calling 911.”

Farmville man charged in Wednesday night shooting death

A man was shot several times and killed outside a gas station west of Greenville on Wednesday night leading an arrest and murder charge. The Pitt County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded at 9:18 p.m. to the parking lot of Mozingo's Corner Stop at 4724 Stantonsburg Road. They found Jaquan Davis, 21, of Greenville shot multiple times. Davis was transported to ECU Health Medical Center where he died from his injuries. Timothy Marcell Baker, 23, of 4344 Horton Lane, Farmville, was developed as a suspect and apprehended by deputies shortly after the shooting, the release said. He was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center on a count of murder and remains there without bond. The business is located at the intersection of Stantonsburg and Mozingo roads, about 3 miles outside of Greenville.
