Man arrested after Lowndes pursuit

VALDOSTA — What started as a traffic stop turned into a pursuit Wednesday, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy tried to make a traffic stop at 9:50 a.m. on Old Clyattville Road on a vehicle that was following too closely and had a window-tint violation, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

VALDOSTA — An 80-year-old Valdosta man was arrested on drug charges Thursday in Valdosta, the sheriff’s office said. Investigators executed a search warrant in the 700 block of East Ann Street, said a statement from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. Valdosta Housing Authority residents had reported an increase in criminal activity in the Ora Lee West area, the statement said.

Valdosta traffic stop leads to drug arrest

Offender: Tomlin, Kavious, African American male, age 24, resident of Valdosta. On July 28, 2021, at approximately 12:25 am., a Valdosta Police Department Patrol Officer made a traffic stop in the 1800 block Canterbury Drive, after observing the driver not wearing a seatbelt. While speaking with the driver, later identified as Kavious Tomlin, the officer detected an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. As the officer was investigating the odor of marijuana, they discovered Tomlin had ingested marijuana in an attempt to destroy/conceal the evidence. Tomlin was detained and the vehicle was searched. Inside the vehicle, the officer found marijuana and three pills that tested positive for methamphetamine. Tomlin was arrested and transported to Lowndes County Jail where he was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine (felony), Possession of Marijuana (misdemeanor), and Tampering with Evidence (misdemeanor).

LCSO makes cocaine bust in Valdosta

On Thursday, July 29 investigators from the Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 705 East Ann Street, Valdosta. Arrested in the case was Izell Adams, a/k/a “Ike.” Responding to information received from the Valdosta Housing Authority residents concerning an observed increase in criminal activity in the area of the Ora Lee West Homes area, investigators conducted surveillance and made arrests, which led to the identification of Adams as a supplier of cocaine in the immediate area. In the service of the search warrant, investigators recovered approximately $3,500 worth of powder cocaine and crack cocaine, as well as seizing a quantity of currency believed to have been generated from drug sales. Investigators were aided by the Lowndes County canine unit in this case.

Lowndes adds 44 COVID-19 cases

VALDOSTA – Lowndes County's reported positive case count rose to 8,249, an increase of 44 from the previous day, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health Friday. No COVID-19 related deaths were reported Friday in Lowndes County, keeping the number of deaths at 150 since the start of the pandemic.

'Show Me Snakes' show comes to Valdosta
