Louisiana museum receives donation

PIKE COUNTY, Mo. — Karen Arico, left, a former member of the Pike County Bicentennial Commission, presents a check for $4,500 to Louisiana Area Historical Museum President Judy Schmidt at a ceremony June 4 at Champ Clark’s Honey Shuck in Bowling Green. The museum will use part of the money to renovate and expand the second floor of its facility at 304 Georgia Street in Louisiana. Vandalia Man Faces Host of Charges After Early Morning Chase

A two-county chase results in the arrest of a Vandalia man on a whole host of charges early Friday morning. In a Facebook post, the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office reports a deputy was on patrol in Vandalia just before 4 a.m. Friday when he spotted a vehicle driven by Willy Sitton, who has active warrants for his arrest in Pike County along with parole violation warrants from the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Lawmaker is accused of having sex while on duty as a cop

(AP) — The Missouri Highway Patrol is reviewing allegations that Republican Rep. Chad Perkins had sex with a drunk 19 year old while on duty as a police officer in 2015. Highway Patrol Capt. John Hotz confirmed to The Associated Press Thursday that the agency received a request for an investigation from the Pike County prosecutor. Perkins, 42, previously worked at the Bowling Green Police Department, which is in Pike County.

Pike County man arrested after police chase that began in Audrain County

A man from northeast Missouri is facing charges in Audrain County following an early morning police chase. Willy Sitton, 40, of Curryville, was arrested this morning. The situation started just before 4 a.m. this morning in Vandalia. An officer spotted Sitton driving through town and knew he was wanted on numerous active warrants. When the officer attempted to stop Sitton, he refused, and sped off into Pike County. He eventually abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot into a field near his hometown. Law enforcement from both Audrain and Pike County worked together to take Sitton into custody.

Nebo Meth Arrest

Use of a search warrant Thursday in Nebo results in two arrests. Pike County Illinois Sheriff’s deputies arrested 33 year old Mark Westemeyer for unlawful possession of methamphetamine following the search in the 600 block of Bridge Street. Deputies say a juvenile also faces meth possession charges following the search. Westemeyer is held in the Pike County Jail.
