Abi Almandinger of Vision Carthage tells us, “I’ve been here since 5 a.m.!” And she said it smiling! Because you can’t deny the Christmas spirit of the Carthage Square. This is something Carthage has never seen!

Joplin construction hit $168.2 million in last fiscal year

It was a good year for construction in Joplin, just not as stratospheric as was the case last year. In fact, the $168.2 million in construction reported for the fiscal year that ended Oct. 31 is still one of the best on record. It’s just that last year was far above the norm.

32nd Street widening project set to get underway December 1st in Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. – Drivers in the southwest corner of Joplin are about to see some major road work over the next two years. That project is the widening of West 32nd Street from Schifferdecker to Central City. We’ve kept you up-to-date on the project since it was announced earlier this year. In that time, utility relocation has been taking place and city officials say it’s now time for the big work to start. Starting December 1st, crews will begin clearing trees along 32nd street in preparation of heavier work set to begin later in December.

Changes proposed for public comment at Joplin School Board meetings

A policy revision advanced on first reading Tuesday by the Joplin Board of Education would alter the way public comments are handled at board meetings. The revised policy would require individuals from the public who want to speak during monthly board meetings to submit their request for comment by 3 p.m. the day of the meeting. Roundabout at 171 and 96 intersection opens early

The new signalized roundabout on Missouri Highway 171 north of Carl Junction has opened almost a month earlier than planned. The nearly $10 million roundabout is the first of its kind in Missouri that uses a signal to warn traffic to stop if a train is approaching at a nearby crossing.
