Two Phelps County teens injured in ATV crash south of Rolla

Two Phelps County teenagers are injured, one seriously, after an ATV-versus-truck collision south of Rolla. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says two 14-year-old boys, one from Newburg and one from Edgar Springs, were riding ATVs on County Road 7460, nine miles south of Rolla, Saturday afternoon, when they failed to negotiate a curve. Both ATVs stuck a pickup truck.

A teenage girl from Phelps County is killed and two others are seriously injured, in a crash on the south side of Rolla. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 16-year-old girl from Rolla was riding in a SUV traveling down County Road 5110 at Little Oaks Road last night, when the driver ran off the side of the road. Troopers say the driver, another 16-year-old girl from Rolla, hit a ditch, became airborne, hit a sign and a pole, then became airborne again before overturning.

Two Phelps County nonprofits receive $500 MRCF community grants

ST. JAMES—Meramec Regional Community Foundation (MRCF) awarded two Phelps County nonprofits with grants for community projects. Christ Church Episcopal’s Back Door Ministry and The Community Partnership’s Capable Kids and Families program each received $500. The checks were presented at MRCF’s March meeting at MRPC in St. James. This year, the MRCF board reviewed a total of 22 grant applications, requesting a total of $10,905 and representing projects in Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties. Christ Church Episcopal and The Community Partnership were two of three projects selected for funding.
