Person killed in east Austin shooting early Sunday morning

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Police are investigating a homicide that happened overnight Sunday in east Austin. According to Austin Police Department, officers responded to a report of shots fired at 2:15 a.m. at 38 1/2 Street and Werner Avenue in the Cherrywood area. There, they found one victim with gunshot wounds.

‘His heroism will live on’: Austin police officer dies after crash with 18-wheeler Wednesday

AUSTIN (KXAN) — An Austin Police Department officer has died Saturday night following a crash with a tractor trailer Wednesday that sent him to the hospital. “It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I share with you the news that fellow Austin Police Officer Andy Traylor has passed away,” a notice from the Austin Police Association reads. Former APD Chief Brian Manley posted the announcement to Twitter.
