PERRYVILLE, Mo. (KFVS) - Perry County Missouri has some of the longest caves in the state and more than 300 sinkholes. Those unique features are currently being highlighted in a documentary. The documentary explains how Perry County residents came together to solve a problem with their water quality in sinkholes.

Perry County Community Foundation awards Coover Regional Recovery Grants

The Perry County Community Foundation has awarded total grants of $11,000 to two nonprofit agencies for recovery needs related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The grants are made possible by the Louis L. and Julia Dorothy Coover Charitable Foundation, managed by Commerce Trust Company in partnership with the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. The PCCF is one of 30 CFO affiliate foundations to receive $10,000 in Coover grant funding this year and chose to use its award to hold a community recovery grant round for eligible nonprofits. The PCCF supplemented this grant round with $1,000 from its own grantmaking budget.

One Car Accident In Perry County Leaves Man With Moderate Injuries

A man suffered moderate injuries in a one car accident in Perry County Wednesday morning. Phillip Campbell, 30, was traveling northbound on interstate 55 at the 125 mile marker when his 2014 Freightliner Conventional ran off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected and overturned. Perry was transported to St. Francois Medical Center with moderate injuries. His vehicle was totaled.

A Perryville, Missouri, man was injured in a one-vehicle crash in Perry County. A Missouri State Highway Patrol report stated James Walker, 46, was driving a 2009 Pontiac G6 on Route M near Perry County Road 924 at about 5:30 p.m. Friday when his vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

Perry County now 12th in COVID-19 positivity rate

Earlier this spring, Perry County was showing a slight uptick in COVID-19 cases and there was a time in May when the county had the highest positivity rate. Those figures seem to be improving and along with that, the state is reporting that close to one-fourth of residents have completed vaccination. The latest statistics show Perry County 12th in positivity rate (7.69 cases) per 100,000. The top five in this metric are Ozark County (15.63), Linn County (12.5), Madison County (12.2), Newton County (12.00) and Livingston County (11.79).
