Rural Thurman man charged with animal neglect

(Thurman) – A rural Thurman man faces multiple charges for animal neglect following an investigation. The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a rural Thurman residence earlier this month for a report of neglected animals. Authorities say they found eight puppies and one deceased puppy being kept in neglectful conditions. The puppies were seized and taken to a local vet for treatment. One day later, two more puppies died and a third was euthanized due to illness.

One person transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle accident in Mills County

(Mills Co) One person was transported to the hospital following a two-vehicle accident in Mills County on Saturday. The Mills County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old Zachary Fischer, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, was driving a 1997 Ford westbound in the right-hand lane of Highway 34, approaching the intersection of Highway 34 and 188th Street. Fischer stated he was driving while talking on his cell phone and thought he had a green light. The next thing he knew he was hit by a 2022 Chevy, driven by 58-year-old Patrick John of Mineola, who was southbound at the intersection of 188th Street and Highway 34, turning onto westbound traffic on Highway 34. Fischer was shaken up and was unable to recall many details of the collision. Fischer had a small abrasion on his forehead, but repeatedly refused medical treatment on scene.

Pickup hits gas station in Mills County

(Mills Co) A vehicle struck a gas station in Mills County on Saturday. The Mills County Sheriff’s Office says 83-year-old William Richardson, of Thurman, was attempting to back his 2014 GMC pickup into a parking stall at the BP gas station. It is unknown if Richardson’s foot slipped off of the brake or if he unintentionally hit the gas pedal, causing the GMC to strike the BP gas station, causing damage to both the vehicle and the building.

BELLEVUE, Neb. (WOWT) - Recovery of a flood-damaged Bellevue neighborhood is on hold. City officials say a lien on the old Paradise Lakes community is causing the delay. Amberly (Heslinga) Carrington is a 2007 Shenandoah High graduate now living in Parrish, Florida with her husband Jimmy. Parrish is an unincorporated community located in Manatee County, about 15 miles inland between Tampa and Sarasota. Amberly tells KMA News preparations began last Friday, when the first hurricane projections were issued.

One arrest and four recent accidents in Mills County

The Mills County Sheriff’s Office reports one recent arrest and a few accidents. On Friday, September 24th Deputies arrested 39-year-old Christopher Patrick Schoening of Glenwood on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault. He was arrested at 9:32 p.m. on Hershey Avenue and booked in to the Mills County Jail on no bond.

Parkwood subdivision declaration approved on the rebound

(Shenandoah) – Plans for a proposed subdivision in Shenandoah are moving forward following the city council’s reconsideration. By a 3-to-1 vote Tuesday evening, the council approved the declaration of covenants, conditions, easement and restrictions for the Parkwood Estates Subdivision. Members of the city’s planning and zoning board recommended the subdivision’s passage in August. But, council members rejected the resolution at its previous meeting earlier this month. Councilman Richard Jones was among those voting against it at the September 13 meeting, saying he lacked information to make a decision on it. This time, with the subdivision’s information made available, Jones voted in favor.
