Save up to $0.17 per gallon - survey shows cheapest gas station in Pearsall

(PEARSALL, TX) For bargain hunters there may be no better target than gas, with the cheapest station in the Pearsall area offering savings of $0.17 per gallon. H-E-B at 225 S Ih-35 was the cheapest station in the area, according to a survey by GasBuddy, with regular listed at $2.77 per gallon Wednesday. By comparison, the most expensive gallon was at Chevron at 130 S Ih-35, where a gallon of regular was selling for $2.94.

Friends of Devine Animal Shelter helps find dogs forever homes

In the last year, Friends of Devine Animal Shelter, a facebook page made to advertise dogs for adoption, has brought the Devine shelter into the modern age with a social media presence to spur adoption of stray animals. This page has lowered the euthanasia rate rapidly, as dogs are leaving the shelter much quicker.

Sully, a Percheron draft horse, was taken in by the local equine rescue shelter, Wings and Reins or W.A.R. Percheron were one of the most widely used breeds for draft horses used for warhorses in World War 1 because of their massive size and unmatched muscle structure, used to maneuver battle fields quickly. Sully fits this description perfectly at 19 hands, 6’ 3” at the top of his back, and 2300 lbs.

Golden retriever service dog gives local teen her life back

The Devine High School Prom had an extra special guest this year, which has changed the life of one local teen, who shared the awesome ways that service dogs can help. Milo was the “star of the show”, traveling along with Paige Freas and her date Christopher Ortiz. He looks awfully cute in a tie, but we wanted to also put a spotlight on some of the amazing things this service dog, and others, do on a daily basis.

Fun Mother’s Day

When I got into my car of the Thursday before Mother’s Day, with my friendly, sometimes companion dog, Shadow, who was with me for several days, I had no clue what a fun adventure the weekend would be. The dog is a mid-size poodle and belongs to friends who were having a Mother’s Day weekend out town. I had committed to keeping him before I was invited to go to Wheeler, Texas to visit my newest one-month-old great-grandson, so he had to go along. Thank goodness for my pet-loving family!

Current Events Club Hosts DHS Class of 2021 Ice Cream Social

On April 12, the Devine High School Senior Class of 2021 attended their first senior party at the home of George and Martha Wall. Hosted by the Current Events Club to honor graduating seniors, ice cream floats and cookies were served, a variety of yard games and other activities were provided, and time of fellowship was enjoyed before Principal Derrick Byrd introduced attending seniors to club members. Gift cards to local businesses were drawn throughout the afternoon, and each student left with a souvenir Warhorse and Arabian cup and napkin for their memory books.
