Lancium to build a renewable energy powered data center in Abilene

December 21, 2021, Abilene, Texas— Taylor County and the City of Abilene have approved a project with Lancium, a Houston-based energy technology and infrastructure company, to build a large scale, renewable energy powered data center campus in Abilene and Taylor County. This significant milestone, the largest project in Abilene and Taylor County history, is pending final negotiations with Taylor County, the City of Abilene, and the Development Corporation of Abilene (DCOA). The project will begin at 200 megawatts with an expansion capacity to over a 1 gigawatt.

CityLink Christmas Tour of Lights

Hop a ride with CityLink and check out the lights around town with the CityLink Christmas Tour of Lights!. Nightly tours leave the Northeast Mall Parking Lot between Pet Supplies Plus and the old Sears at 7:00pm on December 10-11 & 15-18, 2021. Tours are limited to 50 passengers per night, so purchase your tickets in advance at CityLink: 1189 South 2nd Street. Tickets are $8 per person, and children who are able to sit in a lap can ride for free. Limited quantities of tickets may be available on the bus before boarding. Cardboard recycling returns to Abilene drop-off recycling centers

The City of Abilene is pleased to announce the return of cardboard recycling at its recycling drop-off centers, effective immediately. The Abilene area vendor that collects recyclable materials has partnered with a new buyer that now accepts cardboard products. This gives the City of Abilene the ability to collect cardboard materials and transfer them to a vendor for recycling, instead of having to discard it as a waste product.
