Thibodaux man sentenced to life in prison for Larose woman's brutal murder

A 33-year-old Thibodaux man convicted of beating a Larose woman to death in 2018 was sentenced to life in prison Monday. Kyron Bourda was convicted in October of second-degree murder in the death of 44-year-old Rani Pinel. Her body was found Dec. 22, 2018, in her father's truck, which had been abanoned in a sugar cane field near Lasseigne Road in Thibodaux.

Elderly Franklin Man Arrested for Sunbathing…. Nude

Franklin Police received several complaints over a 24 hour period and ended up arresting an elderly man for indecent exposure. Police were called about complaints of a male subject sunbathing nude on the roof of a residence in Franklin, LA. When they arrive, police observed the man naked on the roof and ordered him down. Lee Segura, 70 years old, of Becky Dr. in Franklin, LA was arrested on the charge of obscenity. Segura was booked, and after processing, was taken to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

Wanted woman arrested several months after drug bust, officials say

NAPOLEONVILLE, La. (WAFB) - A woman is behind bars for drug charges after being wanted by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office for nearly eight months. According to Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon, narcotics agents were investigating Tonya Jean Conner, 40, and executed a search warrant of her home on Derrick Street in Pierre Part on April 4. Agents reportedly seized methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Parish council votes down amendments on district changes, pay raise

The St. Mary Parish Council on Wednesday turned back three attempts to put proposed charter amendments before voters. Two dealt with changing the districts from which council members are elected, and the third could have given council members their first raise since the charter was adopted nearly 40 years ago.
