The Butler community will soon be losing another business, Dusty Attic, Antique and flee market in butler has announced their closing date of Saturday, Sept 3rd. The building currently housing the Dusty Attic has been sold to a new owner. Therefore, the Dusty Attic will be closing. At the time of this news report, we do not know what the new owner intends to do with the building.

Louisburg council endorses plan to go revenue neutral

LOUISBURG — The Louisburg City Council has endorsed a plan to not only make the 2023 budget revenue neutral but possibly go below it. The city’s current proposal for 2023 is 20.872 mills, below the revenue neutral rate of 28.069 mills supplied by the Miami County Clerk’s Office.

Bates County rear end accident proves fatal for driver

BATES COUNTY, Mo. – A rear end crash Monday is fatal for a Butler driver. A report issued by the Missouri State Highway patrol indicates the incident occurred at 3:28 p.m. on Hwy AA and 6001 Rd. Northbound driver, 42-year-old Tony L. Radford, failed to stop and struck a vehicle slowed at an intersection, driven by 35-year-old Michael L. Willis, of Archie.

SQC reduced souvenirs are available Friday. Armbands are $15 till noon Thursday at Powell’s True Value and Food Fair. They will be $25 at the Park. The Carnival would like to hire workers to operate the rides, take tickets, and work in food concession for up to $15/hr. You must be at least 16 years of age. The clock tower that sits atop City Hall strikes five times, and tiny American flags are planted six inches apart on the ground below, hanging limp in the humid air. An unseen motorcycle’s revving engine is the only noise puncturing the eerily quiet town square.

Logan Meerkatz, 18 of Cleveland

Logan Meerkatz, soared to the heavens on August 4, 2022 as a result of a car accident. He had an incredible love for the great outdoors, with a special interest in hunting and fishing. He enjoyed four wheeling, mudding, and bringing broken vehicles back to life, only to push them to the limit again. In his youth, Logan enjoyed playing soccer, baseball, football and basketball. He went on to play football through high school, and participated at state in pole vault for track.
