How Many of These Boomboxes Did You Own Back in the Day?

Back in the 1970s and 1980s, boomboxes became popular allowing people to take high-quality sound on the go. How many of these awesome boomboxes did you have?. Boomboxes came in so many shapes and forms, each offering something else unique. Some boomboxes had cassette players, television screens, or even turntables. We all have that image in our head of a random person holding that boombox on their shoulder providing beats for all to hear. Some of the more higher-end boomboxes had separate bass and treble level controls, five- or ten-band graphic equalizers, and a bunch more bells and whistles.

Wide-Eyed Wonder & Squared Visions

Are you a panoramic kind of a photographer or are you a square shooter?. It really surprised me when looking through images to go with this story. Things didn’t quite turn out as I’d imagined them to be, or perhaps I should say I was a little perplexed at my own “internet enticed” switch in my choice of aspect ratio for shooting. I was expecting to find at least 40% of my filed images to be shot in portrait format – yes, upright, although it turned out to be closer to 10%. In recent years I had become aware that my tendency had moved with the times, or at least it had previously – as times they are a-changing way too fast.

Rumour: Panasonic actually going to give the GH6 Phase Detect autofocus

Well, this is a bit of a surprise if true. Panasonic has long shunned other autofocus systems in favour of its proprietary “Depth from defocus” system used in its Micro Four Thirds cameras. And while Panasonic might be happy with it, many Panasonic users are not. But now it seems like Panasonic might actually be changing their tune if the above video is to be believed.

Panasonic announces HLG plug-in for Photoshop CC, adds Raw video modes to S-series cameras

Panasonic has announced a plug-in that allows true-to-life HDR stills to be edited in Photoshop CC. Its S-series cameras can output high dynamic range images compatible with the Hybrid Log Gamma standard, but until now there'd been no easy way to edit them. The LUMIX HLG Photo plug-in will allow HLG stills from the S1, S1R, S5 and S1H to be opened, edited and saved within Photoshop. The results can then be viewed by connecting the camera to an HDR TV using an HDMI lead.

Is the WANDRD ROAM 9L Camera Bag Really That Great?

For more stories like this, please subscribe to The Phoblographer. “Why the hell didn’t they just make a messenger bag?” is what I asked Reviews Editor Hillary Grigonis. The WANDRD ROAM Sling 9L is a bit confusing to us. In some ways, it’s one of the most innovative sling bags I’ve ever seen. (And for the record, we’ve reviewed tons of camera bags.) But in other ways, it feels like WANDRD attempted to make a messenger bag and scaled it back into a sling. We tested a prototype of the bag. Overall, it’s got a lot going for it, but we’re not sure it’s a bag we’d want to carry all the time.
