Sabres' Zemgus Girgensons: Playing against Sens

Girgensons (upper body), as expected, will rejoin the lineup for Tuesday's clash with Ottawa, John Vogl of The Athletic reports. Girgensons hasn't reached the 20-point mark since the 2014-15 campaign but with 12 points in 33 games to start the year finds himself on pace to get back over that threshold this season. Still, the Latvian shouldn't be expected to push for more than a bottom-six role, which will limit him to a low-range fantasy target.

Sabres' Zemgus Girgensons: Placed in COVID-19 protocols

Girgensons entered the NHL's COVID-19 protocols Tuesday. Girgensons has managed just one goal in his last six games, combined with zero assists, so his potential absence is unlikely to impact fantasy players. Still, with Jeff Skinner also placed in the league's protocols, it could certainly raise doubts regarding the Sabres' ability to play versus the Islanders on Monday following the Christmas break.

Sabres' Zemgus Girgensons: Defying bottom-six profile

Girgensons supplied a goal in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Penguins. Girgensons is an interesting player since he has been quite productive offensively in a fourth-line capacity. Despite averaging only 15:23 of ice time, the Latvian has managed six goals and five assists through 30 games. As a result, he may not be the worst option if you need to save up for more prominent players in DFS tournaments or cash games.
