Yancy Medeiros happy to re-sign with Bellator now that he’s “having fun” fighting again: “I’m happy I could please the crowd”

Yancy Medeiros says his Bellator debut served as the first time he had fun fighting in quite some time. After losing four in a row in the UFC, he was not re-signed but quickly inked a one-fight deal with Bellator. He was set to fight back home in Hawaii against Emmanuel Sanchez and heading into the fight, Medeiros says the focus was just giving back to Hawaii and he wasn’t putting any pressure on himself to get the win.

Yancy Medeiros got his wish of fighting back home in Hawaii. After Medeiros was released from the UFC following his fourth straight loss, he made it known he wanted to fight for Bellator on one of the two Hawaii cards. After making it public, Scott Coker and Bellator gave him the opportunity to fight on Bellator 279 on Saturday in Hawaii which Medeiros is ecstatic about.

Nate Diaz hasn’t had much luck booking his next fight under the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) banner so the combat superstar is turning his attention to Bellator MMA. Diaz, who hasn’t competed inside of the Octagon since a decision loss to Leon Edwards back at UFC 263 in June 2021, has been trying his best to book his next UFC fight. ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Scott Coker wouldn’t mind signing Yancy Medeiros, but isn’t sure if he’d be a part of Bellator’s return to Hawaii. Medeiros (15-8-1), who parted ways with the UFC this past August, recently expressed interest in competing on one of Bellator’s back-to-back April cards in his native Hawaii, which take place at Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu.
