With John Metchie out this spring, other guys are getting an opportunity to get extra reps this spring and Javon Baker and Xavier Williams are taking full advantage. During Wednesday's post-practice press conference, coach Saban provided some positive feedback on Baker and Williams. "I've seen improvement in both guys," Saban said. Javon Baker plays with a lot of toughness. He's a very physical guy. I think he has a much better grasp of the offense this year, so his mental errors are way down. His production is up, which I think is a good thing."

Nick Saban hasn’t exactly given Alabama’s receiving corps a vote of confidence this spring. That’s not all that surprising due to what the Crimson Tide lost after winning the national title -- and what it has seen leave the program the last two years in what should ultimately amount in four first-round draft picks at the same position. But excluding John Metchie, who is out with an injury, Saban said none of the current receivers have earned a first-round projection.
