Health Secretary Xavier Becerra tests positive for coronavirus while in Germany for G7 meetings

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday ahead of meetings in Germany with health ministers from other G7 countries. "He is fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19, and is experiencing mild symptoms. He will continue to perform his duties as HHS Secretary, working in isolation," HHS spokesperson Sarah Lovenheim said in a statement.

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt announced that his office joined a coalition of 8 states in filing a civil rights lawsuit against Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Chiquita Brooks-Lasure, opposing a new rule that allows higher compensation for doctors who enact an “anti-racism” plan. Two private doctors are also plaintiffs in the suit.

Xavier Becerra speaks at Enloe Medical Center

CHICO — The Unites States Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra spoke Monday at Enloe Medical Center in Chico about the importance of getting children vaccinated against COVID-19. Becerra spoke with Butte County Public Health, Enloe Medical Center and local pediatricians Monday in a closed roundtable session about COVID-19 vaccinations for children. He said it is refreshing and comforting to see health professionals who constantly work to try to help make life better for families.
