Austin Reaves, Stanley Johnson and Wenyen Gabriel are the 2022-23 Lakers’ X factors

After a strong 2020-21 regular season ended in a disappointing, injury-shortened playoff run, the Lakers purged their depth for a three-star build around LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook. Lakers' Wenyen Gabriel: Puts up 14 and 10 in win

Gabriel racked up 14 points (6-13 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-5 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks over 38 minutes during Sunday's 146-141 overtime win over Denver. The Lakers finished the season with back-to-back wins, something they hadn't previously done since the first week of January. Gabriel got the start at center with Dwight Howard resting and saw a season-high 38 minutes of action. He posted his first career double-double and added a pair of blocks for good measure. The Lakers signed Gabriel to a standard NBA deal last week, so they may look to keep him around as a depth piece in 2022-23.
