Viola Amherd (born 7 June 1962, in Brig-Glis) is a Member of the Federal Council of Switzerland to which she was elected on 5 December 2018. From 1 January 2019, Amherd has been heading the Swiss Ministry of Defence, the first woman to serve in this position.
