Contract Status: RFA (earned $3,250,000 this season) Victor Olofsson is one of the players on the Sabres’ roster that hasn’t had the chance to live up to his full potential. After scoring five times during the first eight games of the 2021-22 season, Olofsson injured his wrist on Halloween and missed the next eight. When he finally returned to the ice, his lethal wrist shot, crucial during both five-on-fives and man advantages, was not the same for a long stretch of games.

BUFFALO – Having experienced restricted free agency two years ago, Sabres winger Victor Olofsson understands he must stay patient this offseason. Olofsson, 26, has already amassed two 20-goal seasons and has shown he possesses the talent to crack the 30-goal mark. Contracts like the one he’s expected to sign are complicated.

Olofsson notched two assists in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Islanders. The fourth-year winger continues his late-season surge. Olofsson has multiple points in three straight games, and over the last 14 contests he's racked up eight goals and 19 points. With two games remaining for Buffalo, he's now one point shy of his first career 50-point campaign.

Olofsson dished out three assists -- one shorthanded -- in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Devils. Olofsson's first two assists came in the second period, as the Sabres scored three times after a scoreless first before the Devils got one back eight seconds prior to the second intermission. The Swedish winger's third helper came on the game's final goal. Olofsson has been tremendous down the stretch, notching eight goals and 17 points over his last 13 games.

Olofsson scored two power-play goals on four shots in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Flyers. Olofsson has been hot down the stretch, totaling eight goals and 14 points in his last 12 games. Five of those eight goals have come on the power play, where Olofsson has a little more room to make use of his excellent shot.

BUFFALO – In his three-year NHL career, Sabres winger Victor Olofsson has probably never been so wide open. As the puck rimmed around the left boards with Tuesday’s game tied late, it appeared to be leaving the Carolina Hurricanes zone. But Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin said he “fake pressured” one of the Hurricanes, forcing him to move the puck. Dahlin then batted it down inside the blue line before quickly spotting Olofsson in the right circle.

Olofsson scored the game-winning goal and added a power-play assist in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Hurricanes. Both points came in the third period, as Olofsson broke open a 2-2 tie by wiring home a slick feed from Rasmus Dahlin with just under eight minutes left in the game, before Dylan Cozens tapped home the rebound on his shot from the top of the faceoff circle a few minutes later for an insurance tally. Olofsson has three multi-point efforts in his last five games, pushing him up to 16 goals and 37 points through 61 contests on the season.

Olofsson scored the game-winning goal on the power play and added an even-strength assist in Friday's 4-3 victory over the Predators. He ripped home a one-timer on a feed from Dylan Cozens late in the second period, the only goal on the night that didn't come before the first intermission. Olofsson has come alive since the beginning of March, pocketing eight goals and 11 points through 15 games.

Olofsson scored twice on five shots and added an assist in Monday's 6-5 win over the Blackhawks. Olofsson's pair of goals sparked the Sabres' offense to life in the second period, and one of them was a power-play tally. He also set up Alex Tuch on a game-tying goal in the third. This was Olofsson's first multi-point effort since Feb. 15. The 26-year-old winger has 14 tallies, 33 points, 130 shots on net and a minus-19 rating in a career-high 57 outings.

Olofsson recorded an assist in Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over the Canucks. Olofsson set up Casey Mittelstadt's first-period tally. Through nine games in March, Olofsson has four goals and an assist despite often playing in a third-line role. The scoring winger is at 29 points, 119 shots on net and a minus-22 rating through 53 contests, though he's cooled off dramatically in 2022 after starting the season well.

Olofsson added a goal on four shots in a 6-1 loss to the Oilers on Thursday. Olofsson kept the goose egg off of the Buffalo side of the scoreboard, not that it was much consolation in the lopsided loss. The left winger has four goals in seven contests in March, with 11 goals and 17 assists in 51 contests this season.

Olofsson scored a power-play goal in a 3-1 win over Vegas on Thursday. It stood as the game-winner on a night the entire Sabres' squad was motivated to show their fans their strength in Jack Eichel's return to the city. Olofsson has three goals in his last five games.

The New York Rangers are continuously attached to some of the bigger names out there as we inch closer to the NHL Trade Deadline on March 21. However, there have been several instances this season where Chris Drury has shown reported interest in other team’s pending RFA’s like the Bruins’ Jake DeBrusk and Blackhawks’ Dylan Strome.

Per Elliotte Friedman in 32 Thoughts, the Rangers may have checked in on Buffalo right winger Victor Olofsson. Olofsson, a shoot first pure RW, certainly fits the need the Rangers have right now. Not only is he the proper positional forward, he’s a shoot first mentality, something the Rangers need in the middle-six.

ST. LOUIS – For all that’s gone wrong for the Buffalo Sabres through 52 games this season, most members of their young core have shown significant signs of progress. Tage Thompson has 20 goals with 30 games remaining despite playing center in the NHL for the first time; Rasmus Dahlin was selected to the All-Star Game amid a statement fourth season in Buffalo; Dylan Cozens scored at a 20-goal pace in the first half; and the prospects in Rochester have thrived, most notably Jack Quinn. Jeff Skinner has also returned to form, answering a $9 million-per-season question.
