Wizards' Vernon Carey: Limited role off bench

Carey (hip) recorded one point (1-2 FT) in seven minutes off the bench Friday in the Wizards' 114-92 loss to the Knicks. Even with Kristaps Porzingis (knee) and Kyle Kuzma (knee) sitting out, Carey couldn't capture a major role out of the Washington frontcourt Friday. Before his seven-minute cameo against the Knicks, Carey had been sidelined since the beginning of March with a right hip contusion, so it's possible he sees an uptick in playing time Sunday against the Hornets in the season finale for both teams. Even if that's the case, Carey will still likely operate as the third-string center behind Daniel Gafford and Thomas Bryant.

Wizards' Vernon Carey: Available Friday

Carey (hip) isn't listed on the injury report ahead of Friday's game against the Knicks. Carey has been sidelined due to a hip issue since March 12, but his absence hasn't impacted Washington's rotation. However, the 2020 second-round pick could crack the rotation Friday, as the Wizards will be without Kristaps Porzingis (knee) and Kyle Kuzma (knee).

Carey (hip) is doubtful for Friday's game against the Hawks. Carey was unavailable for Tuesday's game against the Pistons due to a bruised right hip, and he'll sit out again Friday. Wizards' Vernon Carey: Ruled out Tuesday

Carey (hip) has been ruled out for Tuesday's contest against the Pistons. The second-year center presumably picked up the injury while playing Monday for the G League's Capital City Go-Go. Carey has appeared in just one NBA game since Dec. 10, so his latest absence due to injury shouldn't impact the Wizards' rotation.

Wizards' Vernon Carey: Dealing with bruised hip

The Wizards list Carey as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Pistons with a right hip contusion. Carey hasn't been part of the Wizards' rotation after being acquired from the Hornets on Feb. 10, appearing in just one of Washington's six games since and playing one minute in total. The second-year center presumably picked up the injury while playing Monday for the G League's Capital City Go-Go, as he logged only six minutes in a 114-105 win over the Cleveland Charge. Even if Carey is cleared to suit up for the Wizards in advance of the 7 p.m. ET tipoff, he likely won't be used in a competitive game.
