Comment from Chicago QB Trevor Siemian says a lot about Bears’ culture

Chicago Bears quarterback Trevor Siemian made a comment on Sunday that says a lot about the culture that head coach Matt Eberflus has brought to the historic franchise. Siemian, who started Chicago’s game against the New York Jets due to an injury to Justin Fields, almost didn’t play on Sunday.

QB shuffle: Justin Fields limited in practice, Trevor Siemian to sit out

Bears quarterback Justin Fields will be limited Wednesday and backup quarterback Trevor Siemian will be out for the practice with an oblique injury. The uncertainty surrounding the Bears’ quarterback situation prompted the Bears to add Tim Boyle off the Lions practice squad. Boyle has experience with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy from their days with the Packers.

Bears' Trevor Siemian: No practice to begin week

Siemian will not practice Wednesday due to an oblique injury, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Siemian injured his oblique during pre-game warmups ahead of Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Jets, though he did manage to play through the issue and start, throwing for 179 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Justin Fields (shoulder) is practicing in a limited capacity Wednesday and hasn't been ruled out for Week 13's divisional matchup against the Packers, but his status appears truly uncertain, so the Bears could be taking a cautious approach to Siemian's health. Nathan Peterman is available as a No. 3 option for Chicago, and the team also signed Tim Boyle off Detroit's practice squad Wednesday.

Trevor Siemian or Nathan Peterman: Why Bears' starting QB dilemma created mass confusion pregame vs. Jets

The Bears dealt with even more quarterback drama ahead of their Week 12 matchup against the Jets than most expected. Going into the game, it was always unlikely that Justin Fields was going to play. Chicago's normal starting quarterback was dealing with a shoulder injury that he suffered in the team's Week 11 loss to the Falcons, so the team took a cautious approach with him.

Bears' Trevor Siemian starts against Jets despite suffering oblique injury in warmups

Trevor Siemian is starting at quarterback for the Chicago Bears this Sunday, despite suffering an oblique injury in warmups. The team announced earlier in the afternoon that Nathan Peterman would start against the New York Jets for the injured Siemian -- who was set to fill in for the injured Justin Fields -- but when the Bears offense trotted out on the field, it was Siemian at quarterback.

Bears' Justin Fields inactive, Trevor Siemian starts vs. Jets

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields was listed as inactive for Sunday's game against the host New York Jets in East Rutherford, N.J. The Bears (3-8) initially named Nathan Peterman as their starting quarterback versus the Jets (6-4) after Trevor Siemian -- who was expected to get the nod -- sustained an oblique injury during pre-game warmups. The team, however, called an audible and Siemian trotted out to start the game.
