In this week’s edition of the Arizona Coyotes 2022 offseason player reviews, I take a look at forward Travis Boyd. After spending the majority of his career as a depth forward, the chance arose this season for top line minutes with a rebuilding Coyotes team, and he made the most of it. The overall result was establishing himself as a solid top-line player in The Valley.

Boyd scored a goal on three shots, added seven hits and served two PIM in Friday's 5-4 win over the Predators. Boyd capped off a career year with goals in each of the last three games. The 28-year-old emerged as a top-six option for the Coyotes with 17 tallies, 18 helpers, 88 shots on net, 71 hits, 55 blocked shots, 34 PIM and a minus-10 rating in 74 outings. That performance earned him a two-year extension in March, so Boyd should continue to serve as a solid veteran for a team in the depths of a rebuild.

Boyd scored a goal in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Stars. Boyd completed the Coyotes' comeback at 1:43 of the extra session, marking his second straight game with a game-winning goal. Those are his only two game-winners of the season. The 28-year-old has 16 tallies, 34 points, 85 shots on net, 64 hits and a minus-10 rating through 73 outings.

Boyd scored a power-play goal in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Wild. Boyd gave the Coyotes a 4-3 lead at 10:22 of the third period, and his goal stood as the game-winner. The 28-year-old's offense has been solid in April with three goals and two assists in 13 appearances. For the season, he's up to 15 tallies, 33 points, 84 shots on net, 63 hits, 54 blocked shots and a minus-10 rating in 72 outings.

Boyd notched an assist in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Hurricanes. Boyd had the secondary helper on an Alex Galchenyuk tally in the second period. The Coyotes deployed new-look lines that saw Boyd as the fourth-line right wing -- he's typically played in a top-six role for much of the season. The 28-year-old is at 32 points, 78 shots on net, 61 hits, 52 blocked shots and 28 PIM in 68 outings. He's earned four points through nine games in April.

Boyd recorded an assist and two hits in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Canucks. Boyd set up a Nick Schmaltz tally in the second period, which was the Coyotes' lone tally of the game. In the last five games, Boyd's been steady with a goal and two assists. The veteran center reached the 30-point mark for the first time in his career, posting a stat line of 13 goals, 17 assists, 67 shots on net, 58 hits, 49 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating in 63 appearances.

Boyd scored a goal on two shots in Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over the Blackhawks. Boyd entered Sunday on an 11-game goal drought, and he only had one assist in that span. The center tallied midway through the second period to give the Coyotes a 2-1 lead. He's up to 13 goals, 29 points, 67 shots on net and a minus-2 rating in 61 appearances in by far the best season of his career.

Boyd logged an assist, four blocked shots, two hits and a plus-3 rating in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Sharks. Boyd ended his nine-game slump with the lone assist on Barrett Hayton's third-period marker. Prior to going cold on offense, Boyd had been a steady contributor in a top-six role, but he was dropped to the third line Wednesday. He still logged 18:02 of ice time -- the Coyotes will often mix and match lines readily. The 28-year-old is up to 28 points, 65 shots on net, 51 hits, 48 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating through 59 outings.

Boyd scored a goal and added four hits in Thursday's 5-4 overtime win over the Maple Leafs. Boyd gave the Coyotes a 3-0 lead at 1:08 of the second period. He's picked up three points and a plus-4 rating in his last two games. The 28-year-old is enjoying a career year as the Coyotes' top-line center with 12 tallies, 15 helpers, 59 shots on net, 45 hits and a minus-2 rating in 49 contests overall.

Boyd had a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 9-2 win over the Red Wings. Boyd rounded out his stat line with two shots, two blocks, two PIM, one hit and a plus-4 rating. He opened the scoring just 1:06 into the first period and assisted on Nick Schmaltz's goal late in the second, which was Schmaltz's 11th point in the last two games. Their other linemate, Clayton Keller, has seven points in the last two games, while Boyd has missed out on most of the fun with points on only two of Arizona's 17 goals in this stretch.

The 28-year-old Boyd has set career highs this season with 10 goals and 24 points in 46 games with Arizona. He's also one assist away from establishing a career high.
