It’s a surprisingly newsy Wednesday morning, and the latest is a report from Spence Checketts about a shock signing of a center back. That center back, according to a report from ESPN 700’s Spence Checketts, is Toni Datkovic, and it even appears that the signing snuck in before the closing of the June transfer window. That news was later confirmed by Alex Vejar of the Salt Lake Tribune.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake has bolstered its center-back depth with the signing of Toni Datković, the club announced. Datković, 27, fills a need for RSL as he will add much-needed depth to the position. Currently, RSL’s starting center backs are Justen Glad and Marcelo Silva.
