Tom Morello honored with Spirit of John Brown Freedom Award

Rage Against the Machine‘s is set to receive the Spirit of John Brown Freedom Award. The honor, named after the famed abolitionist who led the 1859 raid on Harpers Ferry, is given out by the organization John Brown Lives! in recognition of individuals whose “work invokes the passion and conviction” of Brown, and “celebrates leaders and innovators in civil and human rights whose courage, creativity, and commitment are models for others to follow.”

Governor Pritzker and Tom Morello of the Band Rage Against the Machine to Attend Worker’s Memorial Day Event in Marseilles

April 28th is Worker’s Memorial Day in the State of Illinois and it will be celebrated in Marseilles, Illinois in a very special way. A plaque dedicated 21 people killed while protesting the use of Out of State workers on a Federal project in Marseilles in 1932 will be unveiled during an event beginning at 5 p.m. at the Illinois Valley Cellular Parking Lot, located at 200 Riverfront Dr, Marseilles, IL. Governor J.B Pritzker will be on hand for the dedication and rock star Tom Morello, from the band Rage Against the Machine, will be there to perform a live acoustic set in honor of Worker’s Memorial Day.
