Thom Yorke has shared a solo rendition of Radiohead’s “Bloom” for a new Greenpeace ad. Check out the video, which is part of Shark Week, a campaign to protect the oceans, below. “In the last 50 years the global shark population has plummeted by 70 percent,” the video description notes. “Sharks are being wiped out by overfishing for profit. But our oceans can recover if we protect them.” The rendition is taken from a 2019 Yorke solo performance.
A new solo piano version of Radiohead‘s ‘Bloom’ performed by Thom Yorke has been shared for a Greenpeace advert during Shark Week. Yorke has contributed to the campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the plight of the global shark population, in a partnership with the environmental charity Greenpeace.

Now, Thom Yorke has dropped off a solo offering, a new version of “Bloom” recorded for a Greenpeace video called “The Lonely Shark.”
The Smile released their debut album A Light For Attracting Attention in May, and apparently that's not the only music they've been working on. Last month, the Radiohead side project debuted a new song called “Colours Fly” during their set at Primavera Sound festival. Over the weekend, they shared footage of the performance on Twitter and Thom Yorke revealed that they've got more new music in the works.
Thom Yorke has confirmed that Radiohead side project The Smile have some new music in the works. The band, which features Yorke, his Radiohead bandmate Johnny Greenwood, and Sons Of Kemet’s Tom Skinner, released their debut album, ‘A Light For Attracting Attention’, in May. In a four-star review, NME‘s Andrew Trendell described it as “showcasing a melodic, more energetic and free-flowing iteration of the Yorke-Greenwood partnership”.
The Smile have already put out one of the year’s best albums in A Light For Attracting Attention. The trio consists of singer Thom Yorke, multi-instrumentalist Johnny Greenwood, and drummer Tom Skinner, and it’s not a far cry to consider them just “Radiohead in disguise.” Their music is definitely fodder for the insatiable appetite of Radiohead fans and according to Yorke, there is more of it on the horizon.
