Terrence Edwin Roof Jr. (born December 11, 1963) is an American football coach and former player who is currently the defensive coordinator for the Vanderbilt Commodores. A former standout at linebacker for Georgia Tech, he was the defensive coordinator at the Georgia Institute of Technology for two stints, one in 1999-2001 under George O'Leary, and secondly, 2013-2017 under Paul Johnson. Roof served as the head coach at Duke University from 2003 to 2007, compiling a 6–45 record. Noted for his highly aggressive defenses, Roof has also been the defensive coordinator at the University of Minnesota and at Auburn University, winning the 2011 BCS National Championship Game with the latter.

T.D. Roof has lived in Georgia, Indiana and North Carolina as a college athlete. Before then, he lived in nine different states growing up. The sixth-year senior linebacker, son of Oklahoma’s defensive coordinator Ted Roof, has lived a migratory lifestyle through 23 years. Ted has been at a different school each of T.D.'s six years of college, and held 17 different jobs in his 35-year coaching career.

When Ted Roof arrived at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium for the first time in December, one thing in particular caught his eye. It wasn’t the bronze statues of hall of fame coaches Bud Wilkinson and Bob Stoops that surround the facility or the record seven Heisman trophies that line the hallways of the Barry Switzer Center.
