Thompson helped the Sabres pull away down the stretch, assisting on goals by Owen Power and Jeff Skinner as Buffalo's lead grew from 3-2 to 5-2. Thompson scored two goals on four shots in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Flyers. Thompson, who's working on a four-game point streak, potted Buffalo's final two goals. His first tally put the Sabres up 4-2 in the second period and turned into the game-winner when the Flyers got one back in the third. Thompson proceeded to restore the two-goal advantage with an empty-netter in the final minute, raising his season goal total to 36.

Thompson totaled a goal and an assist in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Hurricanes. Thompson opened the scoring 3:49 into the first and helped Alex Tuch make it 2-0 just 2:36 later, but it was all Carolina after that.
