Cubs' Steven Brault: Heading to Triple-A

Brault (triceps) was assigned to Triple-A Iowa on Monday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports. Brault signed what was supposed to be a major-league deal with the Cubs in mid-March, but it was converted to a minor-league contract after a physical revealed a triceps injury. He hasn't pitched in a game this spring, so he'll have to build up to game shape before he gets the chance to push for a roster spot.

Cubs' Steven Brault: Dealing with triceps issue

Brault is dealing with a triceps injury, which explains why his contract with the Cubs was converted to a minor-league deal Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Brault missed the end of last season with a lat strain, but the physical he took while signing a deal with the Cubs revealed a separate issue. He won't be able to throw for at least two weeks, which takes him out of the running for the Opening Day roster.
